Michael began his entertainment career as an actor. When he was 19 he got his first big break behind-the-scenes on a CBS-TV Movie of the Week. Originally cast as a bartender in the film, Michael stepped into production on location when an Assistant Director was fired on the set. His single-day bit part turned into several years working in the feature film and television industry in Los Angeles.
Early on Michael learned the value that experience brings to the production process. He moved quickly from from Production Assistant, to lead construction, to Assistant Art Director and Prop Master, with Alex Hajdu (Sledge Hammer, Cujo), and Dan DiPaola (Zoetrope, Stitches). He worked on national ad campaigns for Macy's and Robinsons/May, educational films for McGraw-Hill, countless music videos for Capital Records, the first three seasons of "Rock N America" on MTV, and early internet concerts with the House of Blues, LA.
In 1987 Michael relocated to Santa Barbara, California. In 1989 he was awarded the National Association of Broadcasters Award of Excellence, an Iris and several Addy awards for his work as a Public Affairs Producer for ABC affiliate KEYT-TV. His creativity and commitment to excellence have continued to be recognized including, in 2012, when Michael earned two EMMY awards for "Alaska Dreams," a broadcast documentary that he financed, produced, and directed.
In 1991 Michael founded Pacific Sun Productions, a full-service production
company. Finding his niche in the Tourism industry, Michael produced broadcast commercials and television programs for the TRAVEL CHANNEL, hotels, resorts, and destinations world wide.
In 1999 Michael began shooting, writing, and editing narrative and documentary projects for Discovery, ESPN, HBO, and HGTV. He trained staff producers and camera operators to shoot, produce, and direct multi-camera live event coverage. He worked with corporate marketing managers at AMGEN, GENENTEC, MEDTRONIC and other medical/pharmaceutical companies to develop brand specific content, product launches, corporate event coverage, and streaming video.
In 2013 Pacific Sun Productions joined forces with 10 Toes Over to create Santa Barbara's most dynamic video production company: Frontage Road Studios - lean and nimble, with strong ties to the best, brightest, and most creative talent in the industry.
